Terminator: TSSC Season Finale Will Blow You Away (No Spoilers)

Already one of the strongest showings of the franchise (discussed previously), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has not only impressed with the last five episodes of its second season, but it will probably have fans threaten producers with termination if the series is not continued at least for another year.

For those who thought the series was going to be another mindless "robot-from future-kills-everybody" affair, the smart, evolving complexity of the plot as more connections between future and present reveal themselves should be an attitude-altering experience. In addition to it all being intelligent and philosophical storytelling, it still manages to succeed, even without Arnold Schwarzenegger and with Thomas Dekker as John Connor. (Sorry, I should really start giving the guy a break by now. It is just hard to overcome the whole 7th Heaven association...)

Its chance to survive initially doubted, TSSC is more than vindicated, as science fiction (yet again) proves to be the new serious, thought-provoking genre, especially in the era of television when writers go on strikes while not putting out anything worthwhile. anyway. The entire crew of the show has done a phenomenal job in not letting it slip. Now, let us just hope that they will not give in to network pressure like Alias did and dumb it down for "mainstream" audiences. For those people, there are always reality shows. Let us keep our sophisticated, philosophical, futuristic killing machines, thank you!

Catch the first season on DVD or BD, or download the whole series from Amazon or iTunes (DRM warning for both services!). See the bottom half of the second season for free, including the excellent season finale on Hulu.
