Black Symphony by Within Temptation Is OutSubmitted by Elteto on Sun, 10/05/2008 - 04:07 |
If you did not get to see the phenomenal live performance, Black Symphony is out on CD, DVD, soon BR.
Those whose first (or only) thought on gothic rock/metal is Evanescence, or believe that Amy Lee and her crew have invented the "metal band with goth-ish chick in Victorian era dress" style, have probably never heard of Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Epica, The Gathering, or Within Temptation, and are sadly missing out on quite much. For many years now, those bands have been putting their art in the spotlight, composing and performing on such high scales (but still cheaper) that most bands can only dream of. While musicians keep getting replaced on Broadway by software instruments, the above acts seem to keep adding more humans than electronics. Makes you wonder just exactly which genre is becoming more "classical" and sophisticated. An impressive example of the showmanship of the genre is Within Temptation's Black Symphony concept; a sort of rock-meets-symphony-meets-Cirque du Soleil performance. Check it out on various media formats, including downloadable album, or to get a crash immersion, jump straight to "What Have You Done".
